Back on the band wagon since the beginning of the year (2021) just like many others are as well…
I started back on January 3rd and have officially surpassed 1 month… losing 11 pounds for the month of January!!
So, I have made some changes when it comes to eating healthy. I’ve decided not to fully go back on the keto diet, but instead eat low carb. For the most part a lot of my foods are keto friendly; in fact I’ve been creating many new recipes from keto cookbooks. But, I choose to try low carb instead of consuming high fats.
Just like before, my main goal is to make this a LIFESTYLE change, NOT a lose the weight and then eat whatever in the hell I want. I’m trying to adapt to make healthy choices 95% percent of the time, but still being able to enjoy a cheat meal whenever there is a gathering with the family, birthday party, etc.
My PLAN for the month of January was to eat low carb with no cheat meals, however, that didn’t quite worked out as planned. However, I am glad I stuck with a healthy mind and even when I had high carb meals, I went right back on track to eating low carb the following day.
If you follow me on IG, you’ll know that my husband tested positive for Covid-19. Fortunately, his only symptoms were loss of smell and taste and nothing else, however is still caused a lot of stress for us, as you can imagine. So as a pre-caution, we both decided to separate ourselves from one another, just in case there was any chance of the girls and I not catching it, which thankfully, we didn’t! However, during our 10 day quarantine, I will say I held strong for the most part. I did have a night when I was like I just want some fried chicken (LOL), and I did! I ate some, but made sure I didn’t over eat and then went back to eating healthy the next meal.
So, after our little quarantine sesh, my husband wanted all the meals LOL.. we did end up having dinner at Lucille’s BBQ, and of course I chowed down on some good ol’ bbq ribs, mac n cheese, and mash potatoes. I will have to say though, I can say that I’m proud of myself because normally when it comes down to some mac n cheese and potatoes, I will finish it. This time I tried to eat very little of it, and I did! barely ate half of each and gave the rest to my husband for left overs the next day! Again, trying to learn how to still be able to enjoy the foods I truly love, but be cautious of how much I’m eating of it. Also, listening to my body to STOP eating when I’m full.. not to over eat… and not to try and finish my food just because I know tomorrow I’m going to eat healthy again.
Something that has been helping when it comes to meals, has been meal planning. Honestly, we are not fans of meal prepping. We love our meals to be freshly made, so meal prepping doesn’t work for our family. However, meal planning does! I plan out the next weeks meals for our lunches and dinners, and it helps a lot with not eating out so much or craving for foods that aren’t quite healthy! Give it a try!

So, as I am in February, my ONLY goal for this year to not only to make this healthy habit last for a month or two, but all year long and years to come. But, today we are taking it one day at a time. Remembering that this is a LIFESTYLE. That I can still enjoy foods, but to learn how to enjoy it. To learn how to stop when I’m full, and most importantly, to learn how to get back on track the next day!
So here’s to 11 pounds down in January, and making it a goal to lose another 10 in February!
XO
