The holidays this year are so special to me because this is the first time we will be decorating and celebrating these holidays in our home! So it’s definitely more exciting, that’s for sure!
When it comes to every holiday, what I like doing is set a budget for decorations and slowly build my collection up. So as I do every year I typically use a lot of the same decorations and then also purchase a few new things. The biggest tip that I can suggest when it comes to buying any type of holiday decoration… or even home decoration for all year round, is to try and make sure you will like the style and color for years to come. I typically always go for neutrals and/or black + white because those are colors that I can always work with, but it would definitely be harder for me to work with purple for instance and then always having to work around it… or say I’m just not into purples anymore.. then you’re pretty much just waisting your money; if you can’t get a few year out of it.
When it comes to Halloween, I’ve noticed my change in style has changed over the course of a few years and I’m more into the black + white theme with a little bit of orange.
So when it comes to the kitchen, I didn’t really add too much decorations because I already have so much here already, but I think adding the few pumpkins that I did, made it look so clean and not overwhelming.
And the same goes with my dining room. I just added some special touches to this little corner.
Definitely the living room is my favorite of the entire house.
Starting on this side of the house, I love this little bar cart. I love decorating the bar cart for each occasion. Now, my husband and I are not drinkers (other than when there’s a party) but we are not home drinkers, so this bar cart is only used for decoration purposes, as a dessert cart, and for backyard movie nights. A few decoration pieces that makes this bar cart a little more special, are the stacks of books and the little ceramic white pumpkins. I DIY’d them to go more with the Halloween theme, and love how they turned out. Check out my last post here on how to create and DIY books for super inexpensive, and you can honestly create these for any type of season. And for the ceramic pumpkins that I DIY’d you can check out my IGTV video here.
Another great addition to this wall, was adding these 3D bats. You may have seen these bats on walls on trend over the past 2 years.
And on this wall, which I call our entertainment area wall (since the tv and movie dresser is here), I have a few pumpkins displayed on top of the movie cabinet, along with more 3D bats. *Tip- check out for neared Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Only Store… they always have an aisle filled with holiday decor. For instance, the orange string lights, the wooden signs, and the mesh cloth, were all from The Dollar Tree. 3 items there that made this little area super cute, only cost me less than $4 bucks! You can’t beat that. Also always keep in mind, a lot of things that you can find at those stores you can almost always DIY them to your liking.
For the hallway, this is my second favorite area of the home. I added these light up skeleton candles on each window (which I purchased at The Dollar Tree), and added the ‘BOO’ wooden sign that I created to the wall. I made a step by step post 2 years back on how to create this sign. Super simple & cost me less than $10 bucks to make.
On the console table, I added yet another black mesh cloth, a few little Halloween figurines that I bought at what do you know… The Dollar Tree & 99 Cent Store (LOL), and a few of the larger pumpkins on the ground that I bought at Target.
This main entrance area, I just added this cute pillow that I found this year at the dollar spot in Target and a wooden sign.
The last thing I did for our downstairs area was add a little touch to the powder room. I added these orange battery operated string lights to this little piece right here, and added this cute little skeleton guy.
When it comes to upstairs, I honestly still need a few more things to add, because it’s looking quite lonely compared to downstairs.
So for the loft, the only really thing decorated so far is this cabinet. I have a beige looking mesh cloth with a few decorations that I got at 99 Cent Store that the girls picked out.
The only other thing I have displayed upstairs, are these little wooden signs on the girls room that they picked out as well and the also wanted a few others for the walls.
Now as far as the outside of the home, I love how it turned out! I found these adorable ghost from Dollar Tree and used clear fishing line to hang from the house. I love them!
We also added from spider webs and these fun black flowers into this large pot that I had outside.
I also added this old cat wreath to the front door. I had this wreath for a few years now, so it’s been faded, but the girls still love it. I even made a new witch wreath that I have hanging on the wall! I will have a full step by step tutorial on how to make a wreath… using products all from Dollar Tree.
Ok… I’m going to be honest… I’m a little embarrassed on how much a lot of these decorations came from The Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Store (LMAO), but hey… I am NOT mad about it!
Ok, and for the last few decorations, we bought this inflatable Jack from Walmart and we love him, along with this ghost motion projector!
So, I eventually will continue to add things throughout the years, but I love how everything is turning out!
Hope you all enjoyed it. I tried to link whatever I was able too, and I did add some other decor pieces that I loved in case you wanted to check those out too!
XO
