For the last couple of years, my kids have been racing in the kids spartan race and Terrain Race. I started them in races when they were 3 years old, and have been doing it ever since.
Since they are still young they race about 1/2 a mile, and in these race they have to complete obstacle courses such as; net climbs, monkey bars, sliding down tubs into a mud bath, tire pulls, etc.
Now, as many years as they have been doing this for they both HATE going into the mud. In fact, the last race Avery did she fell into one of the mud baths and was miserable the entire length of the race (literally cried and walked the entire time… but FINISHED).
This year was the FIRST year they both said “were not going into the mud” and actually went in the mud, and didn’t complain.
I have to say Avery was the most proudest of completing the race. This was her first race where she actually tried and completed EVERY SINGLE OBSTACLE (PROUD MOM)! She ran the entire time, and didn’t need any type of help what-so-ever. I was so proud of her, and she was proud of herself. So proud that she was all about taking a lot of pictures!
I did the Terrain Race last year (5k), and will say it was the hardest thing I ever did, but I sure did cross that finish line. Unfortunately, I couldn’t race this year because I fractured my ankle earlier this year and recovering from a dislocated pinky toe, but I did PROMISE my daughter that I will be racing next year! So, I have 1 year to train guys!!! WISH ME LUCK!
XOXO
