Who doesn’t love celebrating the 4th of July?! This is one of my favorite holidays! It’s a day where we get to spend time with family and friends, sip on a delicious drinks, grill, swim, and watch/do fireworks.
For the past 3 years we’ve been spending our 4th of July in San Diego, California. My Uncle rents a beach house in Mission Beach for the week and the entire family pretty much stays there (yes it gets crazy and tight). I would say it’s our yearly mini family reunion.
We literally spend the whole week here eating, swimming, tanning, talking, people watching, napping, and drinking.
My mom and her sisters are the cooks for the week, and let me just say they sure do make some amazing food all week long!
This year was the first year they added something new to the area, and that was motorized scooters and bikes that you could rent. The bikes and scooters are literally place everywhere in the area. The cost to rent the scooters are $1 to start and then $0.15 cents for every minute after. The bikes are also $1 for every 30 minutes.
**BEAWARE** these scooters get very addicting. Your bill can very easily rack up. Throughout our whole trip, we spent about $45 just on scooter rentals. Also, you have to be 18 to ride them, and 1 brand requires for you to wear a helmet. Be careful to not speed over 8MPH, the cops their can and will give you a ticket.
My favorite part of these type of trips are waking up before everyone else does, make a fresh cup of coffee, and sit outside and listen to the waves crash. This is seriously the only time when I’m on vacation that I don’t need an alarm clock to wake me up.
We also enjoy hanging out at the beach and play paddle ball. It’s one of the kids favorite things to do.
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July week/day. I hope you enjoy some of these memories that were captured during our stay at the beach house.
All with love,
Christine
